It's almost the end of the summer (boo!) and internships for Fall 2017 are going quickly! Don't miss out on the chance to hone your skills and gain work experience through one of the possibilities below – click through for the full details.

Internship with State Representative David Crowley
Wisconsin Historical Museum Frontline Team (Due September 4)
Wisconsin Historical Museum
Internships with The Progressive

Internship with State Representative David Crowley
Our office is currently seeking 4-5 interns for the upcoming (fall) semester. Interns will assist our capitol office by entering data, answering phones, conducting legislative research in a variety of policy specific areas, becoming familiar with and analyzing legislative proposals and monitoring the day-to-day issues affecting Wisconsin. Strong writing skills, the ability to analyze, and knowledge of progressive issues are required. Rep. Crowley is serving his first term as an elected official and because of this the coming months will be both challenging and exciting. We seek individuals with a strong commitment to public service, helping others, and making Wisconsin a better place for all who call it home. Hours are flexible - please call our office (608-266-5580) if you have any questions. If interested please fill out the application form, and send a resume, cover letter, and 1-2 page writing sample with the completed form to timothy.schabo@legis.wi.gov. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. This is not a paid internship.

Wisconsin Historical Museum Frontline Team (Due September 4)The Wisconsin Historical Museum is looking for six enthusiastic individuals to join our Frontline Staff team. Frontline Staff help share our love of all things Wisconsin and create a memorable experience for all visitors. Historical knowledge not required. We'll train you in the history, you just bring the excitement! Job candidates will be trained on the subject matter and skills to lead guided tours (to primarily 4th grade students), work retail sales in our store, staff our information desk, perform light administrative work, and even occasionally help with exhibit installation. As ambassadors for the museum and the state of Wisconsin, our Frontline Staff Team is an energetic and diverse group focused on exceptional customer service.

This is a PAID position.  Candidates must be available to work at least two shifts of four hours or more between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30 per week, Tuesday through Saturday with occasional Sunday, Monday, and evening hours during the holiday season and for special events. For more information, please see

Wisconsin Historical Museum The Wisconsin Historical Museum is also looking for volunteers to staff their information desk, assist with special events, and train/serve as tour guides.  A number of History majors have served as tour guides for the Museum and I highly recommend volunteering if you can - it’s a terrific way to sharpen your communication skills and gain valuable experience.   These are unpaid positions but could potentially be used for internship credit via History 506 (please see Christina about this).  Full descriptions of the different positions are available here: https://historicalmuseum.wisconsinhistory.org/volunteering-employment/
