Senator Chris Larson (D – Milwaukee) is accepting applications for legislative interns this summer in his State Capitol office in Madison (some positions may be available in Milwaukee as well). Intern responsibilities vary and are tailored to the interest and strengths of each individual. Responsibilities may include policy research, summarizing proposed legislation, data management, event participation, press writing, and constituent communications. All interns assist with general office operations. Opportunities for Madison interns to accompany Capitol staff to attend events and work directly with the Senator will also be available.
Qualified applicants should have an interest or knowledge of the legislative process and state government. In addition, applicants should have good written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience in an office setting is preferred, but not required.
Applicants must be able to work during normal business hours, and be able to dedicate a minimum of 12 hours a week to the internship. Intern positions are unpaid.
